I haven't written much on here this year because of a couple of reasons. Number one... I am too dang tired all of the time. Tired physically, emotionally, and mentally. Second reason... I don't want to just get on here and complain. Third reason.... I am still looking for the funny student this year that can just make me laugh.
Overall, this year has been hard to say the least.

A new one
Today we had class meetings. All of our meetings are down by the gym which is not near our classrooms. So when the meetings were over we all mob back to the "school" part of our school like a bunch of cattle. I was stuck in the middle of a sea of students. It is at times like that that I am glad I am tall because otherwise I think I would be scared the students would knock me over even though I am a teacher. I like observing the students when they are with their peers because it can sure get me laughing.
But anyways, today I was walking behind this boy observing him and realized he was wearing wranglers. Now don't judge me. I know what you're thinking. I know you recognize wranglers by the butt and yes, that makes me a teacher who happens to be looking at a student's back side but I have a reason I swear! I was just innocently looking around and realized that this kid was sagging his pants quite noticeably. This drives me crazy sometimes so I was thinking about how annoying this was and I wish he would just pull up his pants but then I realized....Sagging Wranglers?!?! I have never heard of or seen such thing! I thought the point of those suckers was that they were tight. I guess this kid is stuck between two worlds and just doesn't know what to do. Hopefully he finds his identity soon so that he doesn't think he needs to how to be a low ridin' cowboy.

What's your name again?
One of my students is the son of another teacher at our school. Today she sent me an email and at the end she wrote this:
I am glad that _______ is comfortable. He said he likes your class and when he couldn't remember your name when he was talking to me, he said is it "you know, Ms. Ligament?" So, if that sometimes slips, that is why.
Hahaha..... that's a new one!

What did you just ask me??
Today was the first day of school. It was long and tiring. And I think it was about 5th hour when... I GOT ASKED TO HOMECOMING! Seriously? I mean I know the kid wasn't serious but really? Why??

It is a new year!!!
One week from today I start my THIRD year of teaching. I can't believe that I have already made it so far. I still feel like I just finished school and now its been over 2 years. I went in yesterday and kind of got some things ready. I worked on first day of school stuff. I am hoping that now I can start having panic dreams where I have shown up late on the first day and have nothing at all ready and my students are all staring at me and I am frantically trying to figure out what to do. I am hoping that this year is going to be a good one. I am going to be teaching Algebra 1, Extended Algebra (which is the same material as algebra 1 just a lot slower and spread out over 2 years instead of 1) and Advanced Math. I think I am most excited about teaching advanced math because I already know the students and know that they are going to be so good.
Well, hopefully I will be better about writing on here. Hopefully things happen that are funny or exciting and not depressing so I feel like sharing. Wish me luck!

Note of the day
A while ago I was having a pretty bad day. Students were being punks and I was sick of the attitudes. Well, I have this class called TA (Teacher Advisor) that meets once a week. We get a group of kids as freshman and stay being their TA for their whole high school career. Basically we are there to help them with anything they need, check their grades, be their friend and mentor. Things like that. Well, I have seniors and I love them. There are about 12 of them in my TA and we have so much fun. There is a group of 3 boys who are all best friends and I think that if I had them in my regular classes they would drive me crazy but in TA and can let them be crazy and just laugh and have fun with them. But anyways, back to the story...
I was having a bad day and one of these boys from my TA comes in and hands me a note from the office. The note he gave me was one that usually comes for students but this time my name was on it. I opened it up and this is what I found:

And then I looked out the window and there he was with his goofy grin giving me a thumbs up. How could something so simple make my day?

Quote of the Day
I was handing out papers to my class and picked up the wrong amount so I was short and had to go back and get more. I told the 2 boys in the front to just pass everything back and I would come back with theirs. Now, you need to understand what kind of boys these are. Boy #1: Hispanic, Boy #2: Completely and utterly white.
So as I am telling them I don't have enough for them and before they hear I am going to get more Boy #1 spouts off with this:
"Its cause we're black huh?"
Ok, probably completely inappropriate. But, I laughed. I couldn't help it. These two boys are far far from black but yet this is the response I get? Where do these kids come up with this?

Comebacks
"Ms. Limb, you have the best comebacks"
Apparently I have a good comeback when students are giving me excuses and all that good stuff. I credit it to growing up in a 9 member family full of sarcastic people.

Intercom
"Joseph Smith please come to the office. Joseph Smith to the office."
I will never get used to hearing that called over the intercom.

Quote of the Day
As he is walking in to class past me almost every single day.
"Hi Ms. Limb"
"Hi ____"
"Ms. Limb you dropped your pocket" (in a calm very matter of fact way)
And then he just keeps walking. Some days he thinks he got me to look and oh boy does that crack him up.

Note of the day
A kid walked in tardy to 6th hour and handed me a note. Usually the note excuses their tardy. Today, this is what it said:
Ms. Limb
Joe (not really his name) was down in my office lying to me about homework.
Then there was the principals signature.
Haha.... oh man. I would have laughed if I wasn't so mad at the kid.

quotes of the day
From one of the biggest tough wrestlers in class the other day:
Him: Ms Limb, I didn't do my homework.
Me: Why not?
Him: Cause I had wrestling practice.
Me: You have wrestling everyday, that's not a good reason.
Him: Well, wrestling practice was so hard yesterday I cried so when I got home I didn't want to do it.
Me: I started laughing a little because I can't imagine him crying but then realized he wasn't laughing too... "Wait, are you seirous?"
Him: Yes, you don't even know.
Me: Ok...... uh..... bring it tomorrow.
I don't know why but the kids blunt honesty made my day.
